Bord na Móna will publish its second Sustainability Report this year.
The report has multiple objectives:
| • | It will provide an update to the Group’s various stakeholders, both internally and externally, on the initiatives which were outlined in the Group’s first report, in relation to its people and the planet. These include initiatives within its commercial businesses and also other initiatives in relation to biodiversity and the management of cutaway peatlands. |
| • | It provides an update on some of the plans and targets the Group have over the next number of years to become a more sustainable Group and deliver on its vision ‘A New Contract With Nature’. |
| • | In updating the report the Group need to consider the way it manages its businesses in the future – the performance indicators, the metrics, data and definitions needed by the businesses every day to make sure its vision is achieved over time. |
The goal of the report will be to accurately present a picture of the Group and how it is performing under the three key areas – people, planet and profit.
Significant opportunities exist for Bord na Móna to leverage its experience, assets and culture of innovation in an environment where sustainability and climate change directly impact almost every aspect of its activities. Meeting our ‘New Contract With Nature’ will enable the Group to capture many of those opportunities.
